The Mobile Mondays! Mission

Keep real music alive, celebrate the artistry of the DJ & bring back the true vibe & soul of New York City!

Mobile Mondays! is a weekly event founded by Operator Emz honoring the 45 RPM record & has quickly become New York City’s premier 45‘s vinyl night for music lovers. Every week is presented by Operator Emz, Natasha Diggs, Joey Carvello, Just Blaze, Misbehaviour & $$$Mike, Hosted by Miss Rebecca at The Bowery Electric.  MM brings NYC’s vinyl rats together to celebrate everything from disco to garage, curated from the inside. For the artists and creatives who congregate, Mobile Mondays! is a chance to go back to the New York City they love best; when records were events, the DJ was on the pulpit and the dance floor was epic.

The Mobile Movement incubates creative collaboration. It brings together a network of like-minded New Yorkers capitalizing on shared inspiration. Celebrating the artistry of the DJ, music lovers find their Downtown meeting house at the Bowery Electric. Mobile Nights are often thematic, with funk, soul, disco, house, rock, reggae, new wave, and salsa making the rounds. The genre doesn’t define the party; MM has real curators on the turntables who fold the crowd into their vision of a party every week. You will hear the rarest of grooves follow by classic dance floor burners. MM DJs take listeners back to an era when DJs dug a little deeper. The artistic directors of the party at MM each have a treasure trove of singles that has special significance to their DJ journey.

With the recent resurgence of vinyl and a growing interest in playing 45’s, Mobile Mondays! has attracted some of NYC’s most legendary and talented DJ’s eager to rock the “little records.”

Previous guest DJs include Kenny Dope, DJ Spinna, DJ Scratch (EPMD), Biz Markie, Large Pro, Boogie Blind (X-ecutioners), Da Beatminerz, BreakBeat Lou (Ultimate Breaks & Beats), Spinderella (Salt N Pepa), Rockin Rob, Cut Chemist, Prince Paul, Young Guru, Bobbito, Chairman Mao, Mr. Len, Preservation & many more.

For 2013 the Mobile Movement is extending its influence, exploring new territory (SXSW, WMC), building a label, and working on projects growing out of Mobile Mondays! synergy. Mobile Recordings will be putting out dance floor shakers from Operator Emz and crew exclusively on 45 rpm.

i mean come on, you guys are playing 45’s on a monday. ok, you have had some great guest dj’s but “incubates creative collaboration?” pulpit? it’s cool you are playing records but for the rest of us vinyl addicts that have been doing so for years, it ain’t that big a deal. seems like way too much hype to me. Mr. Finewine been doing his thing every wednesday for 17 years, playing 45’s that r sometimes not known and usually hard to find. i think he gets more props for being the best 45 party.

I would love for Mr Finewine to come do a guest slot at MM .
